Advisor's Business Meeting

Friday, September 9, 2022

9:30am-2:30pm

• A Meeting for all Arizona Middle School/Jr High Student Council Advisors. 
• The cost is FREE!
• Casual attire is okay. If you have an AAJHSC shirt, please wear it!
• We will provide lunch, snacks, drinks, and other giveaways! 
• Attendance is a MUST for points on Honor/Master Council Application
• Get information and dates about this year's events and activities.
• We will be discussing the theme for this year. 
• You will have the opportunity to choose a workshop for your council to teach as we plan the Leadership Conference to be held on November 7th in Mesa.
• We will make and share plans for other activities scheduled during the 2019-2020 school year.
• Bring all of your questions! We will discuss suggestions we received from you and your councils last year to make this association better.
• New advisors can learn more about the association and what we can do for you and your council.
• A question and answer session to follow main meeting.
• Enjoy team building
• Earn 4 hours of professional development.

 Advisor's Retreat

Fri-Sat Jan. 13/14, 2023

3pm Firday until Noon Saturday

You are invited to join the AAJHSC board members and other Student Council advisors from around the state to our annual retreat.

It will give us:

• a chance to get away from the daily distractions.
• time to focus on ways to make the Student Council experience more memorable and exciting for our students. 
• a renewed commitment to the students in our Councils and increase our enthusiasm. 
• reasons to go back to our schools feeling refreshed & enlightened.
• time to share our ideas and help each other set goals.
• a chance to plan the work it takes to achieve Honor or Master Council this school year.

Why do we choose Friendly Pines in Prescott? 

• It’s a complete change of scenery, for most of us.
• Friendly Pines is a great “rustic” place; quiet and relaxing.
• It provides a comfortable atmosphere to get some work done and get to know each other.

The Retreat is designed to:

• be relaxing and informal
• increase your motivation by allowing your voice to be heard.
• give everyone a chance to be more involved in the Association and make new members feel welcome.
• allow you to help with the planning, selection, and running of activities at upcoming events.
• help you help your students become better leaders.

No Charge for this event!

This year the Retreat will start with registration and check-in between 2:30pm and 4:00pm. The camp will prepare most of our food. But we ask that you bring a favorite side dish, dessert, or snack to share with the group. You will also need to bring a sleeping bag for your bunk, a pillow, a towel, and your toiletries. There are showers in the cabin. Dress warm as we are hoping for some snow!

State Leadership Conference

Thursday, November 3, 2022

10am-1:30pm

$20.00 for each person who attends (Non-Members $25)

• We invite each advisor to bring your entire council to attend a day full of workshops and networking with other state student councils.
• During Roll Call, each Student Council President will line up, step up to the mic and introduce self, school name, from (city), when President steps up to the mic those council members should stand and cheer/shout out their mascot after the President announces city.  BE LOUD and ENERGETIC!
• If your council is applying for Honor/Master Council, presenting a workshop at this conference is a requirement.  (Advisors sign-up for presenting workshops at the Advisor’s Business Meeting)
• Your council members will attend workshops that include Robert’s Rules of Order, Diversity, School Spirit, Academic Achievement, Master/Honor Council Application, Fundraising, and more!
• Workshops are usually student led.
• A question and answer session will be held for both advisors & students.
• Please wear your school shirts or have your students wear the same color if possible.
• Learn how to nominate your amazing student council leaders, advisors and/or administrators.
• Go to "Invoices and Forms" tab at the top of this page to print info on workshops and maps.
• No food or drink will be served at this event.

22nd Annual Student Retreat with the Phoenix Suns

Noon until approx 9:15pm

Cost TBD

• Come one; come all to a one of a kind experience!  Advisors and Student Council Members will attend unique team-building workshops in the Talking Stick Resort Arena in downtown Phoenix from noon until 3:00pm.  In the evening, families, friends and other school staff members who buy a ticket can join your council to cheer on the Phoenix Suns!
• Game only tickets ($25) will be available for anyone that would like to attend the game in the evening.
• Please wear this year's AAJHSC shirt for this event.
• Everyone who attends the day portion of this event will need to wear athletic shoes.  We will be on the ACTUAL basketball court that the Phoenix Suns will play on that night!
• Remember to smile!!  This event will provide some great photo opportunities.

Judging/Selection Day

Saturday, April 1, 2023

10am-2pm

• Any and all Advisors! 
• You are invited to join the AAJHSC board members as we judge the Honor/Master Council Applications.
• We will be judging the four Written Reports, the Introductions, and the Media Projects. 
• We would like your help! 
• There will also be a board meeting when all the judging has been completed.
• Lunch will be served.
• We will begin at 10:00am and finish around 2:00pm.

57th Annual State Convention

 Thursday, May 54, 2023

5:30pm until 8:30pm

Cost $75 for each person who attends (Non-Members $100)

• Come celebrate our 57th anniversary and all your councils’ successes! 
• An honor guard from each school will present during the flag ceremony. 
• View the projects to see how other schools created banners, scrapbooks, collages and minute books based on this year’s theme.
• A viewing station will show a compilation of various schools’ video introductions.
• A professional photographer will be on hand to take your councils group pictures and photos throughout the event.
• There will be a four-course dinner and a two hour live tournament following the awards ceremony. 
• Meet and greet with the knights after the show! Have your cameras ready.
